Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: the driver hits a tree and dies after an accident near Anklam

Anklam (dpa / mv) - After a serious traffic accident involving two vehicles on the federal highway 197 near Anklam (Western Pomerania-Greifswald), one of those involved died. It is a 61-year-old driver from the district, as a police spokesman said on Wednesday. The man drove his car off the road to the right near Strenense on Tuesday and crashed into a tree. The car had spun and tumbled back onto the road, where a following car drove into the wreckage.

The 61-year-old came to a clinic with life-threatening injuries and died there later from his injuries, it was said. The 24-year-old passenger in that car and the 29-year-old driver of the other car were also seriously injured. The road between Anklam and Friedland was closed for several hours to evacuate the people and the destroyed vehicles. An expert should now clarify the exact cause of the accident.
