Police in the Netherlands had issued an alert following the disappearance of Gino (9 years old) in Kerkrade (a Dutch village not far from the German and Belgian borders).
The child, who is blond and blue-eyed, lives in Maastricht. He was last seen at a playground in the city, where he was staying with a sister, because his mother was ill.
Large search facilities were deployed.
A body was discovered in Geleen in the Dutch province of Dutch Limburg, according to police. According to the police, it is Gino's corpse.
The suspect was arrested shortly before the discovery.
