North Rhine-Westphalia: 48-year-old shoots man in the leg at a gas station in Bochum

Bochum (dpa / lnw) - A 48-year-old is said to have shot a 44-year-old he knew at a meeting at a gas station in Bochum-Wattenscheid with a revolver in the leg. The man from Essen was seriously injured but was not in mortal danger, the police and the public prosecutor announced on Sunday. According to initial findings, the cause of the shot on Saturday afternoon could have been an argument.

The injured man then sought help at the gas station and was taken to a hospital after first aid. The suspect from Hattingen drove away from the scene in a car, but was arrested as part of the immediately initiated search. The murder weapon that was in the vehicle was secured, it said.

The police have set up a murder commission to clarify the background. Together with the public prosecutor's office, the officials are investigating the attempt at serious bodily harm, dangerous bodily harm and violation of the weapons law, as a spokeswoman reported. The 48-year-old will be brought before a magistrate on Sunday.
