Leverkusen (dpa / lnw) - On Wednesday night, a fire broke out in the sports hall of a comprehensive school in Leverkusen. There was considerable damage to property, as a police spokesman in Cologne announced on Wednesday. Nobody was hurt. According to the fire brigade, the fire was prevented from spreading to the main building. A warning was issued via the Nina app because of smoke spreading in the Steinbüchel and Schlebusch districts. When checking the ambient air, no increased levels of pollutants were found, it said. About 100 firefighters were involved in the operation. The post-extinguishing work continued on Wednesday morning. The cause of the fire was initially unclear.
