Brakel (dpa / lnw) - In a head-on collision between two cars in the district of Höxter, three people are seriously injured. The 23-year-old driver of one car, the 52-year-old driver of the other car and their daughter were seriously injured in the collision on Saturday afternoon, police said on Sunday. They were all taken to hospitals. A police spokeswoman said it could not be ruled out that the man was in mortal danger.

The 23-year-old's car had previously encountered oncoming traffic on the B252 near Brakel, for reasons that have not yet been clarified. The vehicle crashed into the oncoming car, which was then thrown into the ditch and was so badly deformed that the fire brigade had to free the two women using cutting shears.
