North Rhine-Westphalia: dead from the Dutch channel: woman from Solingen

Wuppertal/Roermond (dpa/lnw) - Eight months after the body of a woman was found in the Netherlands, the investigators have identified the dead person and assume a crime. According to a joint statement from the police and the Wuppertal public prosecutor on Tuesday, a relative in Germany reported the woman from Solingen missing on April 12, 2022. After the investigations, it is now clear that the dead person discovered in September 2021 in a canal near Roermond on the border with Germany is the 57-year-old missing person. Despite a public search in the Netherlands, the identity could not initially be determined.

In consultation with the authorities in the Netherlands, the police and public prosecutor's office have set up a homicide commission to clarify the background to the alleged crime.
