North Rhine-Westphalia: Ex-Schalke Avdijaj changes from TSV Hartberg to FC Zurich

Zurich (dpa / lnw) - The former Bundesliga professional Donis Avdijaj is moving from the Austrian TSV Hartberg to the reigning Swiss champions FC Zurich. The 25-year-old midfielder signed a three-year contract in Zurich. "He was an asset for us and it shows once again that players who haven't had easy times or who have great potential can play their way into the spotlight with us in peace and then move on to bigger names in football," said Hartberg's managing director Erich Korherr on Monday in a club announcement. Avdijaj scored seven goals in 23 competitive games for Austria. The clubs did not provide any information about the transfer fee.

Avdijaj started professional football as a promising talent at FC Schalke, but was unable to establish himself and then played in numerous countries without being able to establish himself at a club in the long term.
