Willich (dpa / lnw) - A 23-year-old was critically injured in a fire and several explosions in an attic apartment in the Viersen district. Before the fire on Monday afternoon in Willich, there was an explosion in the apartment, a spokesman for the district police authority in Viersen reported. While the first emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident, there were further small explosions.
The cause has not yet been determined. The investigators initially ruled out a possible gas explosion. Firefighters quickly got the fire under control. The 23-year-old resident was taken to a hospital. He was said to be alone in the attic.
