North Rhine-Westphalia: guests riot at the wedding party

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - Aggressive wedding guests knocked over a glass container in Cologne and threw bottles at police officers. Six rioters were taken into custody on Sunday night, the police said. Several reports were made, including for resistance and physical assault on law enforcement officials. According to initial findings, no one was injured.

According to the police, several patrol officers had been called to the wedding party because of a fight. On site, the landlord of the ballroom asked the officials to break up the celebration because of the aggressive atmosphere and to lead the guests outside. Some participants would not have wanted to accept that. A group of about 30 guests then knocked over the container and started throwing bottles. The situation only calmed down after about two hours.
