Euskirchen (dpa / lnw) - A man without a driver's license raced through a residential area in Euskirchen near Cologne with an unlicensed car and caused a serious traffic accident. According to a report on Sunday, witnesses alerted the police after the 27-year-old drove through the residential area too quickly on Saturday afternoon. When the young man noticed the patrol, he sped away and collided with the vehicle of a 69-year-old woman at the junction with a road.
Their car was thrown into a parked vehicle by the force of the impact, and the 27-year-old ended up with his car in a front yard. The person who caused the accident and the 69-year-old suffered minor injuries, the property damage was estimated at 10,000 euros. "Extensive" criminal proceedings were initiated against the speeder for driving without a license. Furthermore, his car was not registered and insured. The man was also under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
