North Rhine-Westphalia: Man trapped by car and seriously injured

Schwerte (dpa / lnw) - When a car crashed into a garbage truck in Schwerte near Dortmund, an employee of the disposal company was trapped between the two vehicles. Rescue workers took the seriously injured 50-year-old to a hospital in an ambulance, the police said on Thursday. For the man's first aid, an emergency doctor had previously been dropped off by a rescue helicopter at the scene of the accident. According to initial findings, the 67-year-old driver drove into the stationary garbage truck while it was being loaded. She stated that she had mixed up the gas and brake, the police said.
