Duisburg (dpa/lnw) - To mark the 100th birthday of the sculptor Norbert Kricke (1922-1984), three Duisburg museums are showing works by the artist: the Lehmbruck Museum and the Küppersmühle Museum in special exhibitions and the Duisburg Museum DKM in its permanent exhibition.

The artist (1922-1984) and longtime director of the Düsseldorf Art Academy would have turned 100 at the end of November. His large-format wire sculptures, which are often placed in public spaces in front of NRW buildings such as the Mannesmann-Haus in Düsseldorf, are well known.

"The lively forms of Norbert Kricke's sculptures enchant us to this day," said the director of the Lehmbruck Museum, Söke Dinkla, on Tuesday at the presentation of her house's show. Especially in urban space, they give the austerity and heaviness of the architecture a dancing lightness.

The exhibition in Lehmbruck opens on November 17th for invited guests and on November 18th for the public. At the opening of the special exhibition in the Küppersmühle Museum under the motto "Norbert Kricke. Movement in Space" NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) is expected on Thursday evening. This show will run until March next year.
