North Rhine-Westphalia: Mayor thanks soldiers for cleaning campaign

The Bundeswehr has taken on an unusual task in Bonn: Soldiers were busy there for days cleaning a war cemetery.

Bonn (dpa / lnw) - Bundeswehr soldiers spent nine days cleaning a war cemetery in Bonn with 1,800 memorial stones and gravestones. The soldiers also realigned crooked stones and crosses, as reported by a spokeswoman for the city of Bonn. Mayor Katja Dörner (Greens) wants to say thank you for that today.

According to the information, not only soldiers are buried in the Bonn North Cemetery, but also victims of the bombing war, forced laborers and prisoners of war. There are people from different nations, said the spokeswoman.
