North Rhine-Westphalia: Mourning flags for Mikhail Gorbachev also in NRW

Dusseldorf (dpa / lnw) - On the death of former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, flags on public buildings in North Rhine-Westphalia were set at half-mast on Saturday. NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) had issued a corresponding order for office buildings in the state, the municipalities and municipal associations, as well as for facilities that are subject to state supervision. The flag also flew at half-mast at the Ministry of the Interior in Düsseldorf, as a spokeswoman said on Saturday morning.

The funeral service for the Nobel Peace Prize winner began in the Russian capital Moscow in the morning. Gorbachev died on Tuesday at the age of 91 after a long, serious illness.
