North Rhine-Westphalia: Murder trial for stabbings: Expert does not commit himself

Bielefeld (dpa / lnw) - In the trial surrounding the death of a 49-year-old from 36 stab wounds, the psychiatric expert did not clearly define the defendant's ability to control. The woman's 51-year-old husband has had to answer to the Bielefeld district court since January. He is said to have killed his wife with 36 stab wounds on June 31, 2021 in Bielefeld. According to the expert, it depends on which course of events the court uses as a basis.

If the judges agree with the prosecution, the German, who was heavily intoxicated but used to alcohol, was able to control himself and insidiously murdered his 49-year-old wife with two knives. If the judges follow the defendant's testimony from his confession at the start of the trial, then he saw red the morning his wife came home. Out of insult about their affair, he then killed her under alcohol.

The expert came to an equally ambiguous conclusion on the question of the accused being placed in a rehabilitation center. As a so-called episode drinker with dry phases, the 51-year-old can be described as dependent. The accused also committed the offense under the influence of alcohol. However, its further danger is questionable. Because it was a specific constellation in the marriage that led to the act.

The pleadings are scheduled for Thursday (March 9). If there is no more time for a judgment afterwards, it will continue on March 14th.
