Essen (dpa / lnw) - A mix of sun, clouds and rain awaits people in North Rhine-Westphalia at the beginning of the week. According to the German Weather Service (DWD) in Essen, after a largely dry Sunday with many sunny sections, rain showers will be spreading across the country on Monday night. According to the forecasts, Monday morning will initially be mostly clear to cloudy. The temperatures can rise to 23 degrees Celsius, which is rather unusual for this time of year.

According to the DWD, heavy showers and thunderstorms will come from the north-west from midday, which will spread to the whole of NRW. There could be heavy rain locally. On Tuesday the rain will move south and it will be mostly clear and rain-free. According to the forecast, temperatures between 13 and 19 degrees will mostly remain dry and clear on Wednesday and Thursday. Fog could form in some areas.
