The weather week in a quick check: Sahara air brings up to 26 degrees in the east

In midsummer, such temperatures are not uncommon in Germany: the weather starts the third week of October with well over 20 degrees. Records could even tumble in the east. However, autumn weather sets in again quickly - but there is no need to fear the cold.

At the start of the week, the real summer air from southern latitudes in Germany will drop by again - with maximum values of over 25 degrees. This air originally comes from the Sahara and makes its way to Germany via Spain and southern France.

In addition to the heat, there is another souvenir from the depths of the North African desert: Sahara dust. This temporarily makes the sky appear somewhat milky and the sunrises and sunsets appear more colorful. Here, no October records in terms of temperatures are in danger. However, it could certainly be enough for a few new peak values, especially in the east.

However, the summer heat does not last very long. Because already on Monday afternoon the cold front from low "Freya" will cover the north-west of our country and will advance to the Danube until Tuesday evening. In the night on Wednesday she reaches the Alps. From Wednesday, autumn weather will return to normal throughout the country.

A real onset of cold air is also not to be expected by the end of the week. In short: the heat-friendly weather will continue at least until next weekend.

Monday: Warm air clamp with lightning and thunder

In the south and east it will be sunny after some morning fog. In the northwest, too, it is initially friendly, before later showers and thunderstorms from North Rhine-Westphalia to the North and Baltic Seas. In addition, it is exceptionally warm with 18 to 24 degrees in Baden-Württemberg and up to 26 degrees in places in the east.

Tuesday: Indian summer with up to 24 degrees in the south

Rain showers and thunderstorms are spreading to the Danube, while from the High Rhine via Lake Constance to the foothills of the Alps it is likely to be sunny for a long time and warm up again to 20 to 24 degrees. In the northwest, meanwhile, friendly weather is set in with only isolated drops. Maximum values bring it in the north and the center to 14 to 19 degrees. A strong north-west wind is blowing on the sea.

Wednesday: Cooler everywhere

During the night on Wednesday, thundery showers will also reach the Alps. In the morning, the last showers will quickly disappear here. Otherwise it will be dry across the country on Wednesday and at times sunny on the coast. In the north and east only 12 to 15, otherwise 16 to 20 degrees.

Thursday: Golden October in the East

After local morning fog, it will remain friendly for a long time in the north-east and east, at times sunny and dry. In the southwest, on the other hand, darker clouds and upcoming showers and thunderstorms are on the way again later. Maximum values: 11 to 19 degrees and a sometimes strong south-east wind.

Friday: More thunder and lightning in the west

After a brief calming of the weather, thundery downpours will return in the western half of the day. Towards the east, on the other hand, it stays beautiful for longer. With sometimes strong winds from the south, we can expect between 11 degrees on the Baltic Sea and 20 degrees on the Upper Rhine and in the foehn Alps.

Weather at the weekend: Mild rainy season begins

Of course, the weather models evaluate the weekend and the development beyond that differently. Nevertheless, it currently looks as if a longer-lasting low pressure phase could establish itself. And beyond the coming weekend, with lots of clouds and repeated rain. At the same time, a sometimes strong but very mild south-west wind will blow between 13 and almost 20 degrees.
