North Rhine-Westphalia: Taxpayers donated an average of 70 euros in 2018

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - Every taxable citizen in North Rhine-Westphalia donated an average of 70 euros in 2018. This was announced by the State Statistical Office IT.NRW on Friday based on the results of the wage and income tax statistics that are now available. In total, the residents indicated donations to promote tax-privileged purposes amounting to 1.3 billion euros in their tax returns.

Statistically, the people in Unna were the most generous: Every taxpayer there donated 409 euros. Burbach in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district came in second with 223 euros per capita, followed by Espelkamp (Minden-Lübbecke district) with 152 euros.

According to IT.NRW, the data from 2018 is the most up-to-date that is currently available because the tax authorities only recently provided the anonymized tax data for statistical evaluations.
