North Rhine-Westphalia: Trial against Syria returnees from Hilchenbach

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - A Syrian returnee and suspected IS terrorist must answer to the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court from this Tuesday (9:30 a.m.). The 27-year-old woman from Hilchenbach in Siegerland is also accused of war crimes against the Syrian civilian population.

The accused is said to have joined the Islamic State terrorist militia with her husband in Syria more than eight years ago. There she is said to have lived in houses whose residents had been expelled by IS.

According to the indictment, after the death of her husband, who was married under Islamic law, she married two other IS fighters and also ran a donation network for IS members after her arrest in 2019. The accused is partially confessed, it was said from judicial circles. 13 more days of negotiations are scheduled for the trial until January 24th.
