Magdeburg/Aschersleben (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU) presented 137 graduates with their certificates on Tuesday after the preparatory service at the police university in Aschersleben. The 54 women and 833 men will now begin their service as police chiefs or police commissioners.
As of today, Zieschang explained that it would mean applying what you have learned correctly and safely. The staffing level of the state police is to be further increased in the coming years. The bottom was reached in early 2019, when there were almost 5,800 law enforcement officers in the country. The coalition of CDU, SPD and FDP has agreed to increase the number of law enforcement officers to 7,000 by 2026.
According to the ministry, around 460 police trainees were hired in Saxony-Anhalt in 2022. This means that the goal of hiring at least 440 junior staff in 2022 has been exceeded.
