Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Magdeburg Zoo, weaver birds now share a newly opened aviary with endangered radiated tortoises. The Textor and Napoleon weaver birds have moved into the giraffe house, as the zoo in Magdeburg announced on Monday. It was said that the yellow and red colored swarming birds made elaborate spherical nests from fine blades of grass. The first nests can already be admired by the visitors. Radiated tortoises, which are threatened with extinction and are on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, live on the ground. According to the information, a reproduction of this turtle species native to Madagascar took place in the Magdeburg Zoo.
