Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Comrades from fire brigades in Saxony-Anhalt have been rewarded with the Disaster Control Medal for their commitment and special merits. Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU) presented a total of 17 gold and silver awards on the occasion of "Fire Brigade Day" on Saturday, the Interior Ministry announced on Sunday in Magdeburg.
Five gold and twelve silver decorations were awarded. In addition to individuals, the Halle/Bitterfeld regional association of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund is also among the awardees. The motto of the fifth "Fire Brigade Day" was "Full commitment". There had been campaigns by fire brigades nationwide, which primarily advertised active people.
