Arneburg (dpa/sa) - A fire broke out in a pulp mill in Arneburg in the Stendal district. Sections of the conveyor belts have been on fire since morning, a police spokesman said on Friday morning. The damage is estimated at two to three million euros. So far, the fire has not spread to any other parts of the building. The fire brigade is on site with around 20 to 24 vehicles and 80 to 100 firefighters to fight the fire, the spokesman said.
According to the first level of knowledge, no people should have been injured. The police initially did not provide any information on the cause of the fire or the course of the fire. The extinguishing work continued in the morning.
