Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Gunnar Giese is the new managing director of the Bürgschaftsbank and the medium-sized investment company Saxony-Anhalt. Giese took office on October 1 as the successor to Wolf-Dieter Schwab, the funding agencies announced on Monday in Magdeburg. Schwab will retire at the end of the month after almost a quarter of a century at the helm. The 52-year-old Giese has more than 30 years of experience in "building and transforming financial institutions." He was last managing director of a leasing company, it was said.
The Bürgschaftsbank and the Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft are publicly funded self-help organizations for small and medium-sized businesses. They are supported by the chambers of industry and commerce and the chambers of crafts, banks, insurance companies and associations. By assuming financing risks, they facilitate start-ups and the expansion or succession of small and medium-sized companies.
