Vorharz (dpa/sa) - The police in Vorharz arrested a man and his alleged accomplices for illegal commercial hunting poaching. The 23-year-old is suspected of illegally shooting wild animals and selling them on, the police said on Friday. A judge on Thursday issued a detention order against the man, who was transferred to a correctional facility. His alleged accomplices, aged 24 and 65, are being investigated for aiding and receiving stolen goods.
According to the police, the residential addresses of the suspects were searched on Wednesday. A police spokesman said wild animals were found. Traces were taken in the places in the Harz and Börde districts where the man is said to have shot a double-digit number of deer in the night on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old is also being investigated for home burglary, which is said to be linked to poaching. All three men are also being investigated for violating gun and hunting laws. The 23-year-old is said to have had no permission to use a gun and ammunition.
