Saxony-Anhalt: More than 550,000 property tax returns submitted in the state

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The tax offices in Saxony-Anhalt have so far received around 558,000 property tax returns. This corresponds to 54.9 percent of all required declarations, said the state finance ministry on request.

From 2025, a new property tax calculation should take effect. To do this, almost 36 million properties in Germany have to be revalued. This is done on the basis of information that all owners must submit. The submission deadline was extended once and now expires on January 31, 2023.

The tax authorities have been receiving the data since July 1st. Usually it is about the land and living space, the type of building, the year of construction and the so-called standard land value. The owners have to enter the data in the online portal "Elster" or on a special page of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
