At the end of 2021, the proportion of the total population in the country was 13 percent, as the State Statistical Office announced on Friday. Since the end of 2011, it had risen by 2 percentage points from 11 percent at the time. The rate has recently been declining worldwide. According to a report by the United Nations, the proportion of children under the age of 15 in the total world population fell from 27 percent to 25 percent between 2010 and 2020, according to the statistics authority in Halle. At the end of last year, there were more children under the age of 15 living in Saxony-Anhalt than ten years previously. According to the information, the number had grown by nine percent to 272,374. Between 2010 and 2020, the number of children worldwide grew by only six percent to 1.98 billion.
