Halle (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's combined heat and power plants delivered significantly more heat to end consumers in 2021 than in the previous year. With around 10.7 million megawatt hours, the increase was more than 15 percent, said the State Statistical Office in Halle on Monday. In the previous year it was a good 9.3 million megawatt hours. Heat producers include combined heat and power plants and combined heat and power plants.

According to the statistics authority, the largest customers were companies in the processing industry, in mining and in quarrying. There was an increase of around seven percent to around 6.6 million megawatt hours in 2021. For household customers including housing associations, the amount of heat released rose by 13 percent to almost 2.4 million megawatt hours.
