The police are investigating Steinhart, who has been in office since August 1 and previously worked as department head for public safety, order and social affairs in the city administration. He is accused of insult and assault. It's about a physical altercation between him and one of his son's classmates last Tuesday at the Waldenburg European High School. The police were called and took up the case on the spot, it said.
Steinhart confirmed the incident in a Facebook post. "My behavior cannot be explained rationally," he wrote. According to him, two classmates attacked his son for months with "hardly imaginable insults and humiliation". This put a huge mental strain on the boy. When he confronted the main actor and confronted him with his behavior, a physical altercation ensued. He then went to the school management himself to report this, Steinhart wrote.
