Saxony: Climate protection: Cabinet decides to change the law

Dresden (dpa/sn) - Property owners in Saxony should be able to be obliged to tolerate insulation measures on neighboring buildings that are permissible under building law, even if they protrude over them. On Tuesday, the cabinet decided to introduce a corresponding amendment to the Neighbor Law Act in the state parliament. By increasing energy efficiency in the building sector, climate protection is to be promoted and at the same time more legal peace between neighbors is to be promoted.

"Anyone who wants to insulate their house in Saxony can now in most cases cross the property line to the neighbor," said Minister of Justice Katja Meier (Greens). In view of the climate protection requirements for buildings, the regulations will be of great importance in the future. "The building sector is a key factor in reducing our energy consumption."

According to the ministry, the draft was approved by the cabinet for a hearing on August 23 and the result was slightly revised from an editorial point of view.
