Saxony: closures on railway lines around Chemnitz and southwest Saxony

Chemnitz (dpa / sn) - Train travelers in the Chemnitz area and southwestern Saxony have to be prepared for significant disabilities at the weekend. The reason is an adjustment of software and the integration of a new electronic signal box in the operations center in Leipzig, as Deutsche Bahn announced on request. "The entire control area is affected by this change and thus the entire southwestern Saxon area including Chemnitz." The measure is related to construction work on the historic Elstertalbrücke in Vogtland.

According to the Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen, train traffic will partially come to a standstill. The closures affect the Chemnitz area from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, in the Vogtland the trains remain on many routes throughout Saturday. Rail replacement services will be set up, it said. However, the arrival and departure times will deviate from the normal timetable. Train passengers should therefore inform themselves before starting their journey.

From Sunday (May 29) to June 9 there will also be rail replacement services between Reichenbach and Plauen for some trains on the Hof-Dresden route in the evening. This results in changes to the departure and arrival times, as reported by the Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn. Trains on lines RE 3 and RB 30 are affected.
