Saxony: commemoration of the National Day of Mourning in Saxony

Dresden (dpa/sn) - At a central commemoration in the Saxon state parliament on Sunday, the dead of the wars, the victims of tyranny and terrorism were remembered. This year, the national day of mourning is marked by the Ukraine war. As a result of the war there, the experience of the world wars and the difficult memory of them came to the fore again, said Prof. Sönke Neitzel, holder of the Chair of Military History in Potsdam, in his commemorative speech.

A wreath had previously been laid at the Dresden North Cemetery. There were also commemorative events in Leipzig, Görlitz, Borna, Aue-Bad Schlema and Hoyerswerda.
