Plauen (dpa/sn) - The Plauen State Academy celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new multifunctional building on Thursday. The construction on the Schlossberg will cost around 8 million euros and will in future house a library and an auditorium with space for 200 people. The building shell with its steep roof is already shaping the cityscape, said Finance Minister Hartmut Vorjohann (CDU).

Construction work, including the preserved parts of the historic castle, began in spring 2020. According to the information, the Free State is investing a total of around 30 million euros in the conversion and expansion of the Plauen campus.

The vocational academy in Plauen currently has around 370 students. Dual courses of study are offered in technology, business and social and health care.
