Meiningen/Jena (dpa/th) - In Thuringia, two top legal positions will be filled by women on July 1st. Sonja Friebertshäuser takes over the office of President of the Meiningen Regional Court, as announced by the Ministry of Justice. The position has been vacant since 2020. Marlies Lindner will be the new Thuringian Attorney General. The 57-year-old replaces Andreas Becker, who retired on Thursday.

Friebertshäuser was most recently the presiding judge at the Higher Regional Court in Jena. The 57-year-old has also worked at the Gera district court and at the Rudolstadt district court. Lindner has been with the Thuringian Public Prosecutor's Office since 2007. In 2013, she was appointed Chief Prosecutor as Head of Department at the Attorney General's Office and Deputy Attorney General.
