Saxony: Many drunk driving at Christmas in Saxony

Dresden (dpa / sn) - During the Christmas holidays in Saxony, several men were drunk on the road. In Hoyerswerda (district of Bautzen), a pedestrian who suddenly entered a street under the influence of alcohol was slightly injured on Sunday. As the police announced on Monday, two cars could no longer brake in time.

During police checks in Weißwasser (Görlitz district) and Bautzen, the officials also caught two men who were behind the wheel with blood alcohol levels above 1.0. In Dresden, a cyclist was slightly injured when he drove into a stationary car with 1.6 per mille.

In Callenberg (district of Zwickau) and Pirna (district of Saxon Switzerland-Osterzgebirge), two other men attracted attention during the holidays because they drove in wavy lines. A 37-year-old was stopped on the A4, curving from right to left across all three lanes. He had to undergo a breath test at a rest area and was pulled out with a blood alcohol level of 1.28. And the driver in Pirna even had a blood alcohol level of 1.7.

A 30-year-old driver in Plauen (Vogtlandkreis) could hardly stand up, who first got onto a green strip on Christmas Eve, then drove on after a while and finally came to a stop in the middle of a street. When the officers drew blood from him, the man fought so hard that he had to be tied up. He was taken to a hospital to sober up.
