Saxony: Registered infection numbers in Saxony continue to fall

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The official corona incidence in Saxony continues to decline. In a weekly comparison, the number of reported new infections per 100,000 inhabitants fell from 240.3 to currently 216.4 within seven days, as can be seen from the overview of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Thursday. The Free State is thus in the national trend, the incidence for all of Germany was 237.3 (previous week: 271.3). Within Saxony, the range of incidence is between 265.5 for Leipzig and 159.3 in the district of Meissen.

However, experts have been assuming for some time that the value does not fully reflect the infection situation, because not all infected people have a PCR test done - only the positive ones count in the statistics. According to the RKI, more than 1.71 million infections have been registered in Saxony since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 - with around four million inhabitants. 15,900 people have died from or with a Sars-CoV-2 infection.
