Saxony: Strawberry season in Saxony begins

Dresden (dpa/sn) - In Saxony, this year's strawberry season starts on Wednesday (10 a.m.) in a strawberry field between Leisnig and Minkwitz. The regional association of Saxon fruit is expecting a "strong harvest", said managing director Udo Jentzsch in advance. The weather was better for the red fruits this year than in previous years. Last year, strawberries were grown on an area of ​​around 230 hectares in Saxony, more than half of which is marketed directly. Also this year, numerous fruit growers are offering strawberries to pick yourself - including in Pesterwitz, Coswig and Hirschfeld.
