Saxony: Tariff conflict at Riesa ended: Two euros more hourly wages

Riesa (dpa/sn) - After almost seven weeks of labor disputes with a continuous strike, the wage conflict at Pasta Riesa has been settled. As part of a moderation, an agreement was reached, the union Food-Genuss-Gaststätten (NGG) announced on Wednesday. According to this, the hourly wages for the approximately 140 employees will increase in steps of two euros by next year. There is also an inflation premium of 50 euros per month from January 2023 to the end of May 2024. That is when the collective agreement ends.

"This is a great success for the employees. This is an important step out of the low wages," said Uwe Ledwig, chairman of the NGG-Ost. The success should be a signal for other companies in the East "We need a minimum wage gap and a closing of the wage gap to comparable companies in West Germany."

The agreement was preceded by a moderation by Matthias Platzeck, former Prime Minister of Brandenburg, and Gerhard Binkert, former President of the Berlin-Brandenburg State Labor Court.

The pasta manufacturer, which is well-known and popular in East Germany in particular, had been on strike for almost seven weeks. Pasta Riesa is a subsidiary of the Swabian company Alb-Gold Pasta from Trochtelfingen. The company wanted to comment on the agreement at a later date.
