Saxony: Tax estimate: Saxony expects small additional revenues

Dresden (dpa/sn) - In the course of the current October tax estimate, Saxony expects slight additional income for the next two years. According to information from Friday, the Ministry of Finance expects around 18.4 billion euros, taking into account the federal relief packages for 2022. Around 18.8 billion and 19.5 billion euros are forecast for 2023 and 2024, respectively. Compared to the May tax estimate, this is a total of 69 million euros more - and for the current year around 60 million euros.

"The government draft for the double budget is financially secure even under the current conditions of the energy crisis and remains a reliable basis for the deliberations in the state parliament," said Finance Minister Hartmut Vorjohann (CDU) according to the announcement. The relief packages in the course of the energy crisis and the reduction of the cold progression also led to significantly reduced income for the federal states and municipalities in the coming years. According to the current status of the measures and packages put together, these have already been taken into account in the tax estimate for the Free State. According to Vorjohann, it will contribute around two billion euros to the financing of tax measures from the federal relief packages up to and including 2024.

According to the ministry, the municipalities can expect around 4.3 billion euros in tax revenue this year and 4.5 billion euros and 4.7 billion euros in the two following years. The plus compared to the May tax estimate will add up to a total of around 400 million euros in the period up to 2024.
