First song in six years: Rihanna is back

Rihanna has long since proven that she is a multi-talent. She knows film, lingerie and mom. But what about the singing? She neglected this for six years. Until now. With "Lift Me Up" there is another new song from her.

Pop star Rihanna has released new music for the first time in six years. "Lift Me Up" is the name of the song that the 34-year-old contributed to the soundtrack of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever".

It is a ballad in which the singer demonstrates her vocal power. A poetic video was also released for "Lift Me Up" in the form of a three-minute short film starring the musician.

The song pays tribute to the late "Black Panther" actor Chadwick Boseman, who died at the age of 43 from complications from colon cancer. The title track was written by Academy Award winner Ludwig Göransson, singer/songwriter Tems, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Rihanna. According to Tems, the song should feel "like a hug from all the people I've lost".

"Lift Me Up" can already be heard on streaming platforms such as Spotify and Co. The album "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Music From and Inspired By" will be released on November 4th. It is also the follow-up to the acclaimed soundtrack to the last Black Panther film. Back then, stars like Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd honored themselves.

It's Rihanna's first new music since her 2016 album Anti. Since then, the singer has only appeared in other roles: as an actress, entrepreneur, designer - and since spring also as a mother.

However, the title song for "Black Panther" is only the beginning of her comeback: As she already announced on Instagram, she will perform during the halftime break of the Superbowl in February next year.

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the kingdom of Wakanda must face a new threat from a hidden underwater nation. The film opens in Germany on November 9th. On the same day, Rihanna also presents her new Savage X Fenty Show, where supermodels like Cara Delevingne or Irina Shayk will present her latest lingerie collection.
