Thuringia: State examines the approval of wind turbines for companies

Weimar (dpa/th) - Thuringia wants to break new ground in wind power expansion. Environment Minister Anja Siegesmund (Greens) told the German Press Agency on Friday at a conference on renewable energies and climate protection in Weimar that it is currently being examined whether companies can set up wind turbines for their own electricity needs on their land. It is about atypical approval procedures, which could provide more speed in the recently sluggish wind power expansion. Of course, the existing distance regulations would also have to be observed.

According to Siegesmund, there is interest in the installation of wind turbines on company premises in the entrepreneurial camp. This has been signaled, for example, by the automotive supplier Mubea (Weißensee) in the Sömmerda district, but also by the large Bosch plant in Eisenach and the Tridelta camps in Hermsdorf in Ostthpringen. "We're checking whether that's possible," said the Green politician.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, 16 new wind turbines have been built in Bavaria so far this year. Because two turbines were dismantled at the same time, an actual increase of 14 wind turbines remains. According to the ministry, 14 new wind turbines were built in 2021 - with the simultaneous demolition of seven systems. There are currently 858 wind turbines in Thuringia.
