Avril Lavigne celebrated her breakthrough around 20 years ago with the song "Complicated". Since then, it has actually been complicated in the singer's love life. The 38-year-old has already had two failed marriages. Now her engagement to rapper Mod Sun is said to be history.
It's been less than a year since rapper Mod Sun romantically proposed to pop star Avril Lavigne. Now, however, everything seems to be over between the two. At least that's what several US media are reporting. The “Page Six” portal also wants the news of the broken engagement to have been confirmed by the spokesman for the “SK8er Boi” singer.
However, the situation is not entirely clear. The site also quotes Mod Sun's manager - with contradictory words: "Three days ago, when he left for the tour, they were still together and engaged. If anything had changed, that would be new to him." In any case, despite these supposed inconsistencies, Mod Sun did not want to be deterred from said tour.
Lavigne announced their engagement in April 2022. She also posted a photo as evidence on Instagram, which showed the 35-year-old kneeling in front of her in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and asking for her hand. The scene played out on March 27, according to Lavigne's post. The two were together for about a year at the time.
In French, Lavigne also revealed how she answered the question of all questions: "Oui! Je t'aime pour toujours" ("Yes, I love you forever"). "Forever" seems to have been a rather manageable period of time in this case. In further footage, the singer then proudly showed the engagement ring to the camera that Mod Sun had put on her finger.
If, contrary to current reports, the wedding bells still ring for the two, it would be Lavigne's third marriage. So far they had always led (punk) rockers to the altar. She was married to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010. After that, she surprisingly got married to Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger. The two were married from 2013 to 2015.
Mod Sun's ex-girlfriends include actress Bella Thorne. However, an alleged marriage between the two is said not to have been officially completed.
