Erfurt (dpa/th) - Another volunteer agency has started work in Thuringia. After months of preparation, the Erfurt engagement agency "erna" opened its doors on Monday, the BürgerStiftung Erfurt announced. It wants to inform, advise and network people and initiatives interested in volunteering.
The engagement agency wants to help interested parties to find the right job. Workshops and seminars are also planned in cooperation with the adult education centre. The establishment of the Erfurt EngagementAgency was funded by the Thuringian Volunteer Foundation and the non-profit Hertie Foundation.
According to the Thuringian Volunteer Foundation 2023, regional agencies that see themselves as mediators between committed people and projects, clubs and initiatives are also planned in the districts of Hildburghausen, Sömmerda and in the Wartburg district. At the end of 2022, there were 14 volunteer agencies in Bavaria.
These include the Altenburger Land Volunteer Office, the South Thuringia Volunteer Agency in Schmalkalden or agencies in Jena/Saale-Holzland or in the Kyffhäuser district. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the number of Thuringians who volunteer in clubs, initiatives or foundations is around 753,000 - that's almost 41 percent of the residents over the age of 14.
