Triptis (dpa/th) - A car burned out completely on Autobahn 9 near Triptis. The 21-year-old driver suddenly saw all the warning lights come on late on Friday evening and stopped the car between the Lederhose and Triptis junctions on the hard shoulder, the police said. The engine compartment immediately started to burn there, and the vehicle was engulfed in flames within a short time. The man and other occupants could have left the car in time, it said.
According to the police, the car burned out completely, and the hard shoulder was "considerably" damaged by the flames. The A9 was temporarily blocked in the direction of Munich.
