Thuringia: CDU demands decisions from Ramelow in Thuringia

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The chairman of the CDU parliamentary group, Mario Voigt, is critical of the demands made by Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) to the federal government. "What he demands from Berlin, he should also do in Thuringia," said Voigt on Saturday in Erfurt.

The largest opposition faction has been demanding for weeks that the red-red-green minority government calculate the Thuringia reserve for gas, give a heat guarantee for citizens and business and put up a protective shield for public utilities and municipal suppliers. Voigt was reacting to Ramelow's demand that the federal government put together a new relief package for the citizens.

"The traffic light government is currently hardly keeping an eye on social arithmetic. The main reason is the blockade of the FDP," said Ramelow of the German Press Agency in Erfurt. Among other things, he also demanded a protective shield for municipal utilities and municipal and cooperative housing companies that ran into liquidity problems due to the high procurement prices for energy.

According to Voigt, the CDU parliamentary group wants an energy security fund that can be financed, for example, from the forecast additional tax revenue of around 400 million euros. "The state government has to ask itself what it is giving back to the citizens and the economy with additional tax revenue from high energy prices." Ramelow demanded that the money be put into a new aid package.
