Erfurt (dpa/th) - The Thuringian CDU parliamentary group has called for more training places for teachers in the fight against the shortage of teachers in the Free State. "It takes a triad of additional training places, less bureaucratic recruitment procedures and part-time qualification for lateral entrants," said Christian Tischner, spokesman for education policy for the Thuringian CDU parliamentary group, on Tuesday.
The state government must "finally come up with a plan on how to get the serious shortage of teachers under control". Tischner also referred to the demands of the Union's education policy spokesman, according to which students should be given the opportunity to switch more easily from a purely technical to a teaching degree.
