Saxony: Saxon municipalities train energy experts

Dresden (dpa/sn) - In order to reduce their energy consumption, 24 municipalities in Saxony want to train employees to become energy experts. The project, which is being accompanied by the Saxon Energy Agency, is intended to set up structures for managing energy consumption, the agency announced in Dresden on Tuesday. Existing or newly hired staff should take a closer look at the consumption, costs and CO2 emissions in municipal facilities - such as schools or administration buildings.

They should be supported by external energy consultants and trained to become so-called energy managers or energy technicians, it said. According to the information, financial support is planned for the three years. The community of Burkhardtsdorf in the Erzgebirge district, the community of Horka in the district of Görlitz and the town of Schirgiswalde-Kirschau in the district of Bautzen are part of the project.
