Thuringia: CDU parliamentary group demands payment of aid for forest owners

Erfurt (dpa/th) - The CDU parliamentary group has called on the state government to finally pay out the climate protection premium totaling ten million euros to private and municipal forest owners. The money is intended to help reforest the Thuringian forests that have been severely damaged by drought and bark beetles. The minority coalition must finally release the investment brake, said the forest policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, Marcus Malsch, on Sunday in Erfurt.

"We have to protect the forest, because for us Thuringians it is visible climate protection on our doorstep." According to its own statements, the CDU had negotiated the money in the 2022 budget. There should be an impulse for climate-friendly forest conversion.
