Kaltennordheim (dpa/th) - In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a fire broke out in a residential building in Kaltennordheim (Schmalkalden-Meinigen district) in the Oberkatz district. A police spokeswoman said in the morning that emergency services from various fire departments were busy with the extinguishing work. First, a room was on fire, a little later the whole house. The four occupants of the home were taken to a hospital for treatment. It was not immediately clear how serious her injuries are. The house next door was evacuated when smoke rose from the roof there too.
Motorists in the region will advise taking a different route if possible. The passage through Oberkatz coming from Aschenhausen and to Aschenhausen is completely blocked. The cause of the fire and the damage caused is initially unclear. The criminal police are investigating.
