Erfurt/Wasungen (dpa/th) - In Thuringia, the fools take over the scepter again. The fifth season begins this Friday at 11.11 sharp in many places with foolish key takeovers, the first smaller carnival parades and carnival meetings. In Erfurt, a foolish council meeting is traditionally held at the fish market. In other cities such as Arnstadt, Jena and Weimar, the new season started with the storming of the town halls.
In Wasungen, the place with the longest certified carnival tradition in the Free State, is on 11.11. the fool's baptism of the carnival offspring. The Wasunger Carneval Club has put the 487th season under the motto "Mie could's ümmer nooch" ("We can still do it"). After two years of corona-related restrictions, the Thuringian carnival clubs are looking forward to full halls and boisterous swaying again.
